Join SCAD FASH for The Gospel of Style and Movement, a public dialogue and cultural exploration that connects the creative legacies of two visionary artists — Alvin Ailey, the legendary choreographer who redefined American dance, and André Leon Talley, the fashion icon who transformed global style.
Though they worked in different mediums, both drew deeply from the same well: the Black church, the original stage and runway of Black expression. Through spirit, rhythm, and ritual, the church shaped their artistry, their sense of self, and their commitment to elevating the Black experience to the realm of the sacred. Bear witness to their parallel stories — testaments to how faith, community, and music shape Black identity and creativity in the U.S.
This event is $5 for museum members and SCAD Card holders and open to the public with the cost of admission. Become a member.
