For Julien Fournié, Haute Couture is the source, the crowning jewel, and the embodiment of true fashion. A childhood full of love for refinement, drawing, and music classes guided him along the path of creativity. He gleaned an anatomical understanding of the human body from his foray into a medical science degree — unique skills that culminate in his expert designs. Changing his studies from science to fashion, Fournié graduated from the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne with a master’s degree in fashion design.

Following his years in school, Fournié worked at several Haute Couture houses, including Christian Dior, Givenchy, and Jean Paul Gaultier, before creating his own house in 2009. Fournié became a permanent member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in 2017. With this recognition, his house received the coveted Haute Couture label from the French Ministry of Industry.
Pulling from Fournié’s varied thematic collections, SCAD FASH Lacoste looks back at the designer’s most iconic pieces from recent shows in this presentation of more than 20 gowns. Marking Fournié’s first museum exhibition, it displays the skill and craftsmanship that gained the designer the exclusive prestige of Haute Couture.
