Shoot covers for Vogue with photographer Albert Watson

Event

Join SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace for a live On Creativity with Albert Watson, an acclaimed fine art, portraiture, and fashion photographer. Watson’s distinct, graphically powerful style has cemented his place among history’s 20 most influential photographers. With President Wallace, the artist will discuss his celebrated career, his sophisticated process, and his exhibition The Light Behind the Lens at SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film.

One of the most prolific photographers of our time, Watson has merged fashion photography, celebrity portraiture, and fine art to create some of the world’s most iconic images for the past 50 years. From portraits of Andy Warhol and Kate Moss to decades of shooting haute couture in Paris and Milan, Watson’s striking photographs have graced more than 100 covers of Vogue worldwide and been featured in countless other publications, such as Rolling Stone, TIME magazine, and Harper’s Bazaar.

The Light Behind the Lens is Watson’s first U.S. solo museum exhibition and features more than 50 works curated from the artist’s extensive photographic archive that showcase his signature style, expert use of light and shadow, and the wide range of his career.

This event is open to the public. It is presented on the occasion of SCAD deFINE ART 2021, as part of the SCAD virtual series Guests and Gusto.
