Join writer, editor, and the producer Isoul Harris at SCAD FASH for an exclusive screening of HBO's Donyale Luna: Supermodel, the intimate film chronicling the remarkable life and career of Donyale Luna, the first Black supermodel to grace the cover of both British Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. After the screening, discover what inspired Harris to produce the biopic and how an extensive career as a writer and editor contributed to the film’s production.
Born in Detroit as Peggy Ann Freeman, Luna soared to fame with her fearlessness and undeniable charisma, which she used to dissolve barriers in the fashion industry and redefine the beauty status quo. Her influence spanned the world, inspiring renowned artists like Salvador Dalí and young girls learning to own their unique identities. Her global charm prompted TIME magazine to crown 1966 as “the Luna Year.” Before her untimely death at age 33, Luna cultivated a larger-than-life legacy that still ripples throughout the fashion industry.
