In his debut solo exhibition, Imane Ayissi amplifies the culturally rich textile and sartorial heritage of Africa to reexamine and challenge the Western-oriented world of haute couture. Showcasing traditional elements spanning the continent, From Africa to the World prominently features raffia, Obom bark cloth, Faso Dan Fani stripes, and Kente cloth. A journey through more than 40 signature looks, the expansive show embodies the designer’s singular energy, contextualizing his role within Africa’s larger contributions to fashion while expanding understandings of global luxury.
