'The Blonds: Glamour, Fashion, Fantasy'

The Blonds create garments that exude rebellious glamour and decadent luxury. Their designs transcend limitations, reinterpreting surprising inspirations through a kaleidoscope of luxe materials and crystals, and blurring the lines between fashion and fantasy. Beyond exquisite garments, these flawless works of art are imbued with elaborate embroidery and embellishments and executed to performance quality in a legion of styles for entertainers, socialites, and more. Dripping in sparkles, spikes, and all things glamorous, The Blonds’ signature looks have been worn by celebrities like Beyoncé, Paris Hilton, and Jennifer Lopez. In their first solo museum exhibition, the duo beckons viewers into a dazzling mirage of more than 80 designs manifesting the surreal magic of self-expression.

Glamour, Fashion, Fantasy is curated by Rafael Gomes, creative director of SCAD FASH museums.

About the artists

David and Phillipe Blond, known collectively as The Blonds, met at the famous Roxy nightclub, beginning both their decades-long partnership and love story. Getting their start in the New York club scene, the designers were drawn to clothing built to last while supplying high drama. Encouraged by an environment of self-expression and creativity, the pair experimented with new looks for nights out. When The Blonds began designing professionally in 2006, their world collided with the entertainment industry, and they have never looked back. The idea of clothing as a form of gender-free self-expression is at the core of their work, a guiding principle as they create designs that straddle the line between clothing and costume.
