SCAD FASH x Atlanta Ballet: Styling the story

Talk

This conversation takes place off-site at the FORTY event space, 40 SCAD Way, Atlanta.

In celebration of our upcoming exhibition Emily in Paris: Fashion Without Rules — Costumes by Marylin Fitoussi, SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film welcomes premier dance company Atlanta Ballet and luxury fashion brand Akris to present an evening dedicated to costume design and the collaborative art of sartorial storytelling. From coded silhouettes to performance-driven textiles, costume designers balance visual impact with functional movement to build rich visual worlds that support the story on stage and on screen. Highlighting women who shape contemporary creative industries, this panoramic discussion offers a behind-the-scenes look at how intentional costuming enhances performance, grounds character, and propels the narrative forward. The panel — moderated by SCAD illustration professor and multidisciplinary artist Amy Lennertz — features SCAD FASH assistant director of exhibitions Emily Smith, Atlanta Ballet costume designer and SCAD alum Abigail Dupree-Polston (B.F.A., fashion, 2011), and style representatives from Akris.

Admission is free for SCAD Card holders and SCAD FASH members and $5 for the general public.
