Talk: 'Behind the Mask: Courtly Masquerades and Capote’s Black and White Ball'

Uncover the fascinating and hauntingly chic history of the masquerade ball at SCAD FASH’s third annual Halloween talk! Fashion historians Sarah Collins and Stephanie Ray, also SCAD FASH’s education and programs manager, trace the origins of these fantastical fetes and deep dive into the most notorious masquerade of the 20th century: Truman Capote’s legendary Black and White Ball. Explore the ritual of midcentury style icons and illustrious guests, including C.Z. Guest, who dressed in their most elegant attire for an unforgettable evening of masked glamour, whimsy, and high society, leveraging style to both conceal and reveal their identities. Don your most decadent black and white costumes. Masks available at entry while supplies lasts.
Admission is free for SCAD Card holders and SCAD FASH members and $5 for the general public.
