Join fashion experts and former top models at SCAD FASH as they relive firsthand experiences from Atlanta’s “Glamour Days,” reminiscing on memorable backstage moments at the legendary Fashionata shows hosted by Rich’s Department Store — the historic heart of the city’s fashion scene. The panelists share exclusives on Atlanta’s fashion icons, including Fashionata creator Sol Kent, and the rise of Atlanta’s Apparel Mart — and how their time owning the runway led to roles in art, journalism, hospitality, and consulting.

Join the founder of Atlanta Sustainable Fashion Week, Tanjuria Willis, in the SCAD FASH film salon as she addresses the fashion industry’s prevalent need for sustainable practices. With an emphasis on creativity and the importance of future generations, Willis’ approach to positive change relies on community efforts and conscientious consumers who choose earth-friendly fabrics, properly dispose of waste, and reimagine existing items.

Referencing our current exhibitions, World War II historian Tyler Crafton-Karnes offers a powerful perspective on fashion’s function in sociopolitical movements. Join Crafton-Karnes as he analyzes the use of clothing and styling seen in 20th-century wartime to resist invader influence. Enjoy cocktails and canapes during the talk.

Join SCAD FASH for a night of lyrical homage lauding the work of Madame Grès. Penned by the SCAD Writing Club’s Atlanta Chapter, each piece finds formal inspiration in the French couturière’s creations. Garner new appreciation for Madame Grès’ gowns in this unexpected medium. The poems will be presented aloud in our film salon for museum members to enjoy with canapes and champagne.

Cozy up in the SCAD FASH film salon for a screening of Corsage (2022), Marie Kreutzer's fictionalized account of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Vicky Krieps). Idolized for her beauty and grace from a young age, the empress grapples with her image as these attributes alter with time. Follow her as she confronts middle age, a relatable pilgrimage exacerbated by the public eye and royal expectations. A discussion follows the screening.

Join SCAD FASH for a conversation on the history-making supermodel Donyale Luna (1945–1979). Known as the original Black cover model, Luna first graced British Vogue in 1966.
